As the founder and president of D. Clugston Inc., Darryl leads his team in creating an evolving, ambitious vision for D. Clugston to cultivate a working environment and culture, who are team driven, empowered and enthusiastic collaborators, all the while being client focused, fostering design excellence, delivering superior buildings and exceptional aquatic structures.
Fueled by a need to invest in his staff’s personal & professional growth and a conviction to keep an expanding company very “family focused” has enabled Darryl to attract exceptional talent.
His extensive background allows him to bring about projects through the entire design process, on a wide range of project types, from Brewery’s, Restaurants, Commercial Buildings, Clubhouses & Pools. However, over the years, Darryl has carved out a niche focused on building and designing amenity sites, clubhouses and pools for Local and National Developers within their PUD’s as well as designing & engineering ground level and rooftop pools for many Architectural Firms for their Multi-Family Buildings.
With his technical educational background and more than two decades of experience in design and building, he has the expertise to bring his clients’ visions to life, Darryl leads multi-disciplinary efforts that integrate the work of architects, civil and MEP engineers, landscape architects, and designers. As a design-builder, he is versed in a variety of construction delivery methods, including Construction Management Agency (CMa), Construction Manager as Constructor (CMc), Integrated Project Delivery, Guaranteed Maximum Price (GMP), and Negotiated.
Darryl’s passion for design and excitement to create a successful project experience for his clients drives his hands-on approach. When a potential client is looking to start a project or an active client needs a status report, he understands the value of being available and having an answer ready. He prioritizes proactive communication and long-term relationship-building over short-term profits, which has led to the steady growth of the company and an 85% repeat customer rate among the Triangle’s local developers and national builders.
